Leicestershire Regiment Bi-Metal Cap Badge

Under Review

Material: Brass and white metal (bi-metal construction)
Dimensions: 46 mm (W) × 41 mm (H)
Description: The piece is a classic "Other Ranks" cap badge featuring the celebrated Royal Tiger emblem awarded for exemplary conduct across the Indian subcontinent. Struck in a bold, gilded brass, the beautifully textured tiger is depicted walking statant with its right front paw raised defensively, standing firmly upon a grassy ground plot. Arching elegantly directly above the tiger’s back is a white-metal scroll carrying the archaic honorific battle inscription HINDOOSTAN. A separate, longer flowing white-metal banner anchors the lower edge, cleanly stamped with the regimental title LEICESTERSHIRE.
Reverse: Smooth back with original vertical brass slider; two sweat holes to the upper scroll fixing and two to the lower.
Circa: 1898–1946
Notes:

The Royal Tiger and HINDOOSTAN honor the regiment’s service in India and reflect one of the best-known distinctions associated with the Leicestershire Regiment. The bi-metal construction also gives the badge a particularly strong visual presence.
