UK Civil Defence Corps Enamel Lapel Badge

Under Review

Material: Gilt metal with red and blue enamel
Size: 20 mm w × 37 mm h.
Description: The insignia is defined by a central gilded lion statant guardant standing proudly on a textured background within a circular frame. A deep cobalt blue enamel border encircles the central beast, bearing the bold gold inscription "CIVIL DEFENCE CORPS" in stylized capital letters. Surmounting the circular medallion is a detailed, multi-colored representation of the St. Edward’s Crown, meticulously detailed with red enamel inserts inside the arches to represent royal patronage. The reverse side of this gilt-metal badge is left flat, unmarked, and utilizes a vertical pin with a rollover safety clasp for secure clothing attachment.
Circa: 1953-1968
Notes:

The Civil Defence Corps (CDC) was established in 1949 by the British government to organize local warden, rescue, first aid, and ambulance units to protect the domestic population from potential Soviet airstrikes or nuclear warfare. This specific variant features the Queen's Crown (St. Edward's Crown), which officially replaced the earlier King's Crown (Tudor Crown) variants following Queen Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953.
