Early Boy Scouts Tenderfoot Brass Rank Badge

Under Review

Material: Brass with gilt finish
Size: 25mm w × 22mm h
Description: The item is a scarce, early-pattern Tenderfoot or membership lapel pin designed for the youth uniforms of the embryonic Boy Scouts movement. Struck from a resilient sheet of brass, the insignia measures 25mm wide by 22mm high and is shaped into a stylized fleur-de-lis, or traditional arrowhead. The surface of the central petal and outer wings is finished with a heavily granulated background texture, which provides crisp relief contrast for the raised outer margins and the two embedded five-pointed stars. The reverse side features a vintage, solid-stamped oval buttonhole fastener designed to slide securely into the lapel slit of contemporary civilian coats or early wool scouting shirts. Stamped cleanly across this backing plate is the historical British design registration mark "Rd 554072".
Circa: 1910-1920s
