Royal Marines Anodized Gold Collar Badge

Under Review

Material: Staybrite (Anodized Aluminum)
Size: 37mm w × 35mm h
Description: This artifact is an official British military dress uniform collar insignia, colloquially known as a "collar dog," issued to other ranks (enlisted personnel) of the Royal Marines. The piece features the central component of the Corps' historic emblem: a finely detailed, grid-lined globe displaying the Eastern Hemisphere, explicitly highlighting the continent of Africa. The globe is encircled by a deep, semi-circular laurel wreath that meets in a ribbon bow at the base. It has undergone a chemical anodization process to produce a permanent, bright gold-mirror finish. The reverse side is configured with two original hollow mounting shanks (lugs) and a split brass cotter pin to hold it flush against a uniform collar.
Circa: Mid to late 20th Century
