Material: Brass
Size: 20 mm w × 30 mm h
Description: This British Commonwealth military insignia is a standard dress uniform collar badge (7 flames) traditionally worn by various Fusilier regiments or Artillery units. The die-stamped brass piece is sculpted into the historic shape of a classic grenade proper, featuring a smooth, spherical bomb body at the base. Erupting from the narrow neck ring is an elaborate flame burst containing multiple stylized fire tendrils that flare upward and outward. The badge is struck from solid gilding metal that has aged to a deep golden patina, and the reverse is fitted with an unmarked dual copper loop system meant for cotter pin attachment.
Circa: 1914-1960
Notes:
The universal flaming grenade design is one of the oldest symbols in military heraldry, representing elite assault troops who originally threw early gunpowder explosives into enemy trenches. Because this miniature variant is completely plain without a regimental emblem stamped onto the spherical bomb, it served as a universal issue item worn by multiple units, including the Royal Fusiliers, the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, and the Royal Artillery.
