Army Catering Corps Collar Badge

Under Review

Material: Staybrite (Anodized Aluminum)
Size: 20 mm w × 30 mm h
Description: This vintage British Army insignia is a collar badge minted for the Army Catering Corps (ACC), the vital branch dedicated to feeding soldiers across global operations. The design features a circular gold-toned band containing the raised lettering "ARMY CATERING CORPS," which frames a central silver brazier erupting with textured, stylized flames. Atop the circular medallion sits the St. Edward’s Crown, commonly known as the Queen's Crown, while the reverse side relies on an unmarked single lug and pin fastening system to anchor securely onto a service jacket.
Circa: 1953 – early 1990s
Notes:
The Army Catering Corps (ACC) was formed in 1941 to professionalize food service across the British Army.

The use of anodized aluminum in British militaria is widely known among enthusiasts as Staybrite, an innovative manufacturing process introduced to replace traditional heavy brass or bronze hardware. This shift significantly reduced uniform maintenance requirements for soldiers because anodized aluminum naturally resists tarnishing and retains a high-gloss finish without regular polishing.
