Material: Silvered brass
Size: 15 mm w × 20 mm h
Description: This is an authentic vintage die-struck military collar badge representing a qualified musician or bandsman. Measuring 15mm in width by 20mm in height, the piece displays a central lyre framed by decorative, mirrored floral acanthus leaves rising from a stepped rectangular base. The metal surface features detailed vertical strings running up the center column beneath a heavy top scroll crossbar. Flip the piece over to reveal a deeply stamped, hollowed back design that matches the contours of the obverse face. While the original fastening method—typically a small brass wire loop shank or twin cotter-pin tabs—is missing from the center reverse, the intricate face details remain exceptionally crisp and clear.
Circa: 20th Century
Notes:
The classical lyre has served as the universal international emblem for military musicians, drum corps, and regimental bandsmen across Commonwealth forces for well over a century.
