Under Review

Material: Cloth

Size: 88mm w x 115mm h

Description: This artifact is an authentic, luxury-grade British military blazer crest badge for No. 54 Squadron of the Royal Air Force. The piece is meticulously handcrafted using fine metallic bullion wire and silk embroidery threads applied directly over a heavy black melton wool backing cloth. A central circular frame features tightly wound silver purl wire forming a ribbed background texture. This field hosts an intricately embroidered, blue-silk rampant lion facing the viewer's left, heavily embellished with silver seed-bead accents to symbolize the traditional heraldic semée de lys patterning. The circular border is inscribed with the titles "SQUADRON LIV" at the top and "ROYAL AIR FORCE" along the base, split by Roman numerals on the flanks. The entire medallion is surmounted by a highly raised, padded St. Edward's Crown (Queen's Crown) stitched with rich gold bullion coils, silver threads, and deep red velvet. A sweeping gold wire scroll underlines the composition, framing the black silk-embroidered Latin motto: "AUDAX OMNIA PERPETI".

Circa: Mid 20th Century
