Description: This authentic die-stamped brass cap badge was issued to soldiers serving in the Corps of Royal Engineers, the vital technical and sapper branch of the British Army. The centralized design spotlights the intertwined royal script cipher "GRI" for King George VI (George Rex Imperator), beautifully nested inside a traditional Order of the Garter belt buckle inscribed with the classic Old French motto "Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense" translating to "Shame on Him Who Thinks Evil of It." The entire inner assembly is proudly surmounted by the Tudor Crown and securely anchored by a wrapping botanical laurel wreath and a cleanly lettered branch title banner.
Circa: 1936–1952
