Royal Corps of Signals Cap Badge

Under Review

Material: Bi-metal (brass and white metal)
Size: 30mm w × 50mm h
Description: This original insignia belongs to the Royal Corps of Signals, the crucial communications arm of the British Army. A brass open-oval band serves as the outer frame, featuring sharply debossed typography that reads "ROYAL CORPS OF SIGNALS" around its perimeter. Mounted securely inside the oval is a separate, silvered white-metal figure of Mercury—traditionally referred to by servicemen as "Jimmy"—the swift Roman messenger god. The entire composition is surmounted by a detailed Tudor crown, which is historically recognized as the King's Crown. Flipping the piece over reveals an integrated, unmarked solid brass fastening slider running vertically down the center to secure it tightly to a standard wool beret or service peak cap.
Circa: 1920-1952
