Material: Gilt brass with white-metal overlay
Size: 25 mm × 25 mm
Description: This vintage military artifact is an authentic bi-metal Imperial Yeomanry slouch hat insignia representing the City of London Yeomanry (Rough Riders). The intricate construction features stylized capital letters "RR" struck in bright brass or white metal alloy, superimposed directly over a diagonal, solid cavalry riding spur. The completely unmarked reverse features a long, rigid brass vertical slider meant to secure the compact emblem directly into the thick cloth pagri band of a wide-brimmed felt slouch hat.
Circa: Early to Mid 20th Century
Notes:
When the regiment was originally formed in 1901 during the Second Boer War, their uniform regulations were heavily influenced by South African field experience, leading the unit to adopt khaki service uniforms and flexible felt slouch hats as their primary field headwear. The riding spur artwork serves as a proud nod to their operational foundation as a hard-riding volunteer cavalry unit.
