Material: Gilding metal (brass)
Size: 60 mm W × 45 mm H
Description: This British Army other ranks headdress piece is struck in a classic two-part bi-metal assembly. The central emblem showcases a finely detailed, seated figure of Britannia in white metal, complete with her traditional trident, Union Jack shield, and olive branch. Enclosing Britannia is an open white metal laurel wreath that secures tightly onto a flowing, downward-arching brass scroll below. The gilded brass banner scroll is crisply embossed with the regimental title reading "THE NORFOLK REGT". The reverse side features a hollow-struck configuration fitted with a solid, unmarked vertical brass mounting slider used to attach the insignia firmly onto service dress caps.
Circa: 1898-1935
Notes:
The iconic figure of Britannia holds a unique place in British army heraldry, having been exclusively granted to the regiment by King William III to honor their fierce and steadfast conduct at the Battle of Almanza in 1707.
