Material: Chromed Metal
Size: 65 mm W × 87 mm H
Description: This specific helmet plate variant is constructed from a die-stamped base metal meticulously finished with a bright, mirror-like chromium plating layer. The brilliant chrome finish provides exceptional rust resistance and an eye-catching reflection designed to stand out under parade and formal inspection conditions. It maintains the identical iconic shape, featuring the central Liver Bird gripping a seaweed frond nestled securely within a raised "LIVERPOOL POLICE" garter band. The outer boundary is wrapped in a thick laurel wreath and crowned by the elegant St. Edward's style Queen's Crown. The brilliant silver-colored plating is entirely intact across the front face, highlighting the deep ridges of the leaves and the textured background of the lettering ring. On the reverse, the two original structural wire lugs remain solidly attached to the body for firm mounting.
Circa: 1953 – 1967
Notes:
This badge represents the final pattern worn by the Liverpool City Police prior to its amalgamation into the Liverpool and Bootle Constabulary in 1967. The Liver Bird in the centre, derived from Liverpool’s civic arms, distinguishes it from the Merseyside Police design that followed after 1974.
