Material: Gilt brass with blue enamel and silvered lion head

Description: This striking bi-metal insignia is designed around a magnificent, eight-pointed faceted starburst crafted from solid gilding brass. The central core features an elegant circular ribbon finished in a deep Royal Blue enamel, cleanly displaying the embossed title "BRITISH LEGION" in a bright gold-toned uppercase typeface. Mounted squarely in the absolute center of this ribbon loop, a masterfully sculpted, three-dimensional silver lion's head faces directly forward with a crisp, detailed mane. The entire multi-piece assembly is surmounted by a highly detailed Queen Victoria Crown (QVC), emphasizing royal patron status and bringing structural balance to the top point of the star.
Reverse: Flat gilt reverse with horizontal pin-back fitting; stamped serial number H3181 below the center
Circa: 1921–1952
Notes:
The British Legion was formed in May 1921 by amalgamating four separate veteran organizations that had emerged to support traumatized, disabled, and unemployed servicemen returning home from the horrors of the First World War.
