King's Royal Rifle Corps Cap Badge

Under Review

Material: Blackened brass
Size: 40 mm w × 55 mm h
Description: This historic piece of militaria showcases a traditional Maltese cross completely covered in tiny, raised lettering that honors historic nineteenth-century battle honors. At the absolute center, a circular garter band displays the regimental name "THE KING'S ROYAL RIFLE CORPS" surrounding a detailed, curled bugle horn insignia with long, flowing strings. The topmost arm of the cross supports a smooth horizontal tablet inscribed with the famous Latin motto "CELER ET AUDAX". Surmounting the entire insignia is a sharply defined King's Tudor Crown, cast in brass then blackened.

Reverse: Plain with integral brass slider stamped J.R. GAUNT LONDON.
Circa: 1901-1952
Notes:

The famous Latin motto stamped across the upper bar, "CELER ET AUDAX", translates directly to "Swift and Bold", a legendary title originally granted to the regiment by Major General James Wolfe during the 1959 Quebec campaign to praise their rapid, aggressive skirmishing tactics on the battlefield.
