Huntingdonshire Regiment Cap Badge

Under Review

Material: Gilt brass
Size: 42mm (height) × 40mm (width)
Description: This authentic, original British military cap badge was issued specifically to the Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion, a highly specialized mobile infantry unit. Die-stamped from a single piece of solid yellow brass, the crest captures the prancing stag (or "hart") of Huntingdonshire, standing boldly atop a grassy mound. Below the stag arches an elegant, flowing ribbon scroll featuring the stamped regimental text "HUNTINGDONSHIRE" in clean, raised block lettering. The reverse side features its original, long un-brazed brass vertical slider fitting, which was designed to slide into the front band of the standard issue service dress cap, and bears the distinct, crisp maker stamp of "Lambourne & Co, Birmingham".

Circa: 1914–1920
Notes:
This pattern was worn by the Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion (Territorial Force), formed in 1908 and later absorbed into the Northamptonshire Regiment in 1920. The stag represents the county crest of Huntingdonshire. Lambourne & Co were known for fine die-stamped badges produced in Birmingham during the early 20th century.

Cyclist battalions played an incredibly unique, fast-moving role in home coastal defense and scouting logistics throughout World War I.
