British National Fire Service WW2 Cap Badge

Under Review

Material: Chrome-plated brass with red enamel lettering
Size: 40 mm w × 47 mm h
Description: This iconic silver-toned insignia is an authentic Home Front cap badge issued to members of Great Britain's National Fire Service (NFS) during the height of the Second World War. Formed by the amalgamation of over 1,400 separate local fire brigades and the wartime Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS), the unified NFS was hastily created by Parliament to systematically combat the catastrophic urban infernos sparked by the German Blitz. The bold design features a textured central medallion framing the fiery red enameled initials "NFS". This inner vignette is beautifully ringed by an elegant, patterned eight-pointed starburst representing defensive vigilance. Surmounting the topmost ray is the historic Tudor Crown—colloquially termed the King's Crown—signifying active civilian service under the wartime reign of King George VI.
Circa: 1941–1948
