Connaught Rangers Cap Badge

Under Review

Material: Brass, single-piece die-struck
Size: 42 mm w × 45 mm h
Description: This insignia served as the official other-ranks headgear ornament for the Connaught Rangers, a famous Irish line infantry regiment of the British Army. The central motif features a beautifully detailed Irish Harp, traditionally known as the Clàrsach, surmounted at the apex by the imperial King's Crown (kc) to signify royal authority. An elegant, sweeping scroll anchors the base of the design, proudly bearing the raised block capitalized inscription "CONNAUGHT RANGERS." Struck from a durable brass alloy, this piece retains an authentic weathered golden patina and incorporates a long, solid vertical slider clasp on the reverse to anchor firmly into a standard service dress peaked cap or field hat.
Circa: 1902 – 1922
Notes:
The Connaught Rangers were an Irish line infantry regiment of the British Army, formed in 1881 from the 88th and 94th Regiments of Foot. They saw distinguished service in the Boer War and First World War, earning a reputation as “The Devil’s Own.” The regiment was disbanded in 1922 following the creation of the Irish Free State. This King’s Crown example represents the final issue pattern before disbandment, featuring the classic Irish harp and crown design.
