Material: White metal
Size: 35 mm w × 50 mm h
Description: This striking vintage Scottish clan insignia is rendered in a durable, textured silver-toned white metal alloy. The design utilizes the traditional high-relief belt and buckle motif, displaying a pebbled background texture enclosed by a prominent circular strap. Engraved upon the strap is the proud Latin familial motto, while a stylized buckle accents the left edge. Standing proudly at the center of the emblem is the official crest of Clan Donald: a heavily armored, gauntleted hand holding a cross crosslet fitchee. The bottom of the circular frame tapers into an elegant, ornate Victorian-style floral flourish anchoring the bottom pin attachment.
Circa: Mid-20th century
Notes:
This mid-century bonnet badge features the famous Latin motto Per Mare Per Terras, which translates to "By Sea and By Land," reflecting the vast medieval naval dominance of the MacDonalds across the Hebrides.
