Cheshire Regiment Bi-Metal Cap Badge

Under Review

Material: Bi-metal (white metal starburst with brass acorn and oak leaves)
Size: 50 mm w × 45 mm h
Description: This striking bi-metal insignia was worn on the service dress caps of infantrymen serving in the Cheshire Regiment, a storied line infantry unit of the British Army. The badge features a distinctive bi-metal construction where a central, warm-toned gilding metal acorn and oak leaf sprig is superimposed over a gleaming white metal eight-pointed starburst. Originating from the regiment’s historic moniker, the oak leaves commemorate a legendary event at the Battle of Dettingen in 1743, where the regiment protected King George II from French cavalry, prompting the grateful monarch to award them the royal oak leaf emblem. Running beneath the starburst is a gracefully upturned white metal scroll boldly displaying the single word "CHESHIRE" to denote county alignment and ancestral pride.
Reverse: Slider broken; pin and loop repair, missing pin.
Circa: 1898-1922
