Description: The item is a highly detailed, original Other Ranks (O/R's) glengarry headdress badge for the 79th Regiment of Foot (Cameron Highlanders). The circular insignia is struck from a premium white metal alloy, displaying a beautiful matte silver coloration with deep natural toning across its recessed areas. The central visual focus features a bearded figure of Saint Andrew clad in flowing robes, standing firmly upon a rocky ground line while gripping a large, smooth St. Andrew's Cross (Saltire). This central figure is completely encircled by a thick, heavy wreath composed of highly detailed Scottish thistle flowers, buds, and sharply serrated leaves that join securely at the bottom with a decorative ribbon bow. The reverse side is completely unmarked and features two sturdy, original wire fastening lugs designed to receive a cotter pin to hold the badge tight against heavy wool glengarry bonnets.
