Material: Brass
Size: 35 mm w × 35 mm h
Description: The cast metal insignia displays a prominent central anchor featuring a vertical shank, a straight crossbeam stock, and sweeping curved flukes at the base. Stamped directly onto the stock is the motto "SURE," while the corresponding word "STEDFAST" spans across the upper curve of the lower flukes. Layered precisely over the center of the anchor is a bold red Geneva cross flanked symmetrically by two large capitalized "B" letters to signify the organization. A sweeping, stylized lower title scroll completes the composition, bearing the name "THE BOYS' BRIGADE" in clear raised lettering, while the entire piece exhibits a heavily aged bronze and turquoise verdigris patina across the upper loop.
Circa: 1926-1960s
Notes:
This design is a monumental piece of social history, representing the official 1926 union amalgamation badge between the original Boys' Brigade and the Boys' Life Brigade. Prior to this historic merger, the original 1883 pattern insignia featured only the anchor and the twin "B" letters; the addition of the central cross was explicitly integrated to honor the heritage of the Boys' Life Brigade. The motto "Sure & Stedfast" is a direct biblical reference taken from Hebrews 6:19, which reminds members of a hope that enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain.
