Material: Enamel
Dimensions: 22 mm diameter
Description: This vintage promotional lapel badge was produced as an exclusive fellowship piece for subscribers of The Aquarist and Pondkeeper magazine, a premier British monthly publication founded in 1924 that served as the foundational voice for early twentieth-century fishkeeping enthusiasts. Measuring 22mm in diameter, the circular badge features a beautifully detailed central vignette depicting two stylized tropical fish swimming amidst aquatic plants against a sky-blue enamel background. Surrounding this central underwater motif is a vibrant, translucent red enamel border framing the Latin motto "S. AQUA CUNAE VITAE • AGER NOBIS", translating to "Water is the cradle of life • The field belongs to us." Struck as a cold-pressed brass base with a premium cloisonné finish and an intricately patterned rope-twist outer rim, the reverse side is purposefully smooth and left unmarked, utilizing a traditional pin-and-clasp attachment mechanism.
