Antique Glasgow Coat of Arms Souvenir Locket

Material: Electroplated nickel silver (EPNS), with enamel decoration.

Size: 45mm wide x 50mm high

Description: : A rounded souvenir locket bearing an enamel representation of Glasgow’s arms. A bird, tree, bell, and fish appear against a white shield above a deep blue scroll reading “GLASGOW.” The enamel has cracks and losses, particularly toward the upper right, while the surrounding metal displays worn plating, fine scratches, and mottled brown and silvery-gray surfaces.

The circular front cover is hinged at the top, with an opening tab below and a suspension ring above. Inside the lid is a domed, yellowed translucent insert, likely intended to protect a small photograph. Its material has not been identified, and no recognizable image is visible beneath it. The shallow interior retains scattered dark spotting and surface wear.

Reverse: Four small stamped letters read “EPNS,” identifying the silver-plated nickel-silver construction. Below them is a roughly scratched inscription containing “1922” and “24,” with a faint preceding character that may be a “4.” The complete reading and meaning remain uncertain. Further scratches and small green deposits are visible across the reverse.

Circa: 1910-1924 (Scribed X-1922-24)
