Description: This philatelic specimen is an authentic 1-penny (1d) denomination postage stamp issued by the British colonial administration of Tasmania prior to the unification of Australian state postal systems. Printed in a striking carmine-red ink, the central vignette features a landscape scene of Mount Wellington towering over the surrounding temperate rainforest trees and a winding river. The scene is framed by Art Nouveau-style floral scrollwork accents, with the country name "TASMANIA" spanning the top border and the mountain's name emblazoned along the base. This specific used copy bears a exceptionally clear, historic circular date stamp (CDS) postmark tracking its cancellation to Hobart, Tasmania on July 13, 1900.

Circa: 1899 (postmarked 1900)

Condition: Used - nice postmark!
