Golden Crest of the Mountains

Under Review

Description: This rare imperforate cinderella stamp belongs to the higher-value tier of the historic series prepared for the short-lived Mirdita Republic (Republic of Mirdita), a self-proclaimed state in northern Albania. The central vignette displays the traditional Albanian double-headed heraldic eagle, printed in a vibrant golden-yellow ink against a coarse, light-tan cream paper backing. A rigid typographic grid borders the central emblem, with the top segment reading "VETËKEVERRIA" (Self-Government) and the right border containing "E MIRDITIËS" (of Mirdita). The left text box features the word "POSTA" (Post), while the bottom compartment denotes a currency upgrade to the higher unit "FRANK". The numerical denomination 1 is cleanly isolated inside small square panels at each of the four outer corners. This specific specimen displays two distinct black handstamps: a bold, horizontal "TAKSE" (Postage Due) overprint directly across the center of the eagle, and a heavy, vertical rectangular bar cancellation completely obliterating the word "POSTA" on the left.
