KUT UPU Anniversary Commemorative

Under Review

Description: This wide-format, bicolored definitive commemorative stamp from the British colonial administration of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanganyika features an intricate, fine-line recess engraving. The left side of the vignette portrays a dynamic, windswept figure of Hermes, the classical messenger of the gods, wearing a winged helmet and cloak while confidently striding over a grid-lined terrestrial globe. The background scenes transition beautifully into modern transit infrastructure, displaying a four-engine commercial airliner soaring through the sky and a large merchant ocean liner cruising past standard radio tower waves. The upper right corner features three lines of text reading "UNIVERSAL POSTAL UNION 1874 1949," explicitly honoring the 75th anniversary of global postal treaties. A bold white "20 CENTS" denomination occupies a dedicated box in the lower left, while the joint state territory title "KENYA TANGANYIKA AND UGANDA" grounds the lower margin. This used specimen exhibits a heavy, dark circular town postmark layered across the base.
