Boy Scouts Firemanship Proficiency Badge

Under Review

Material: Embroidered cloth.

Size: 35 × 35 mm.

Description: The central vignette features a multi-tiered, stylized red flame motif machine-embroidered with thick silk thread. Encircling the central flame is a vibrant green horseshoe-shaped border band that displays the uppercase inscription "BOY SCOUTS" stitched cleanly into the text field. The entire design is layered onto a circular khaki twill backing fabric that features standard bound, stitched outer margins. This uniform-removed specimen displays considerable edge fraying, loose surface thread fibers, and minor storage discoloration consistent with age and long-term placement on a traditional scout merit sash.

Circa: 1930s-1960s

Notes:

The Firemanship Proficiency Badge recognized training in fire safety and practical emergency knowledge. Badges of this kind formed part of Scouting's emphasis on useful public-minded skills and personal preparedness.
