Lancashire Woven Scouting District Cloth Badge

Under Review

Material: Woven / embroidered cloth.

Size: 30mm w x 35 mm h.

Description: The small rectangular insignia features a classic multi-colored machine-embroidered layout rendered cleanly on a heavily textured, dark navy-blue woven ribbon backing strip. The top section showcases the geographic boundary title "LANCASHIRE" stitched in thick, bold golden-yellow block lettering framed securely between two parallel horizontal chain-stitched lines. The center of the patch is dominated by a beautifully stylized, multi-tiered Red Rose of Lancaster accented with fine golden internal details and five projecting geometric green sepal tips. A single horizontal chain-stitch border anchors the entire composition along the bottom margin. The frayed, exposed fabric edges around the perimeter show clear indicators of real-world uniform removal and long-term storage wear.

Circa: Mid-20th century

Notes:

This specific narrow embroidered chain-stitch ribbon layout was actively issued and worn by the British Girl Guides Association from 1961 until 1967, when it was phased out during the broad organization-wide uniform modernization campaign. Needs to be confirmed.
