Material: Cloth with embroidered thread.
Size: 30mm w x 35mm h
Description: This scouting artifact is an official regional sleeve badge (divisionsmærker) issued by Det Danske Spejderkorps (DDS), the premier scouting organization of Denmark. The embroidered design features a striking shield layout split horizontally into two main decorative panels. The top half is composed of a deep royal blue background cleanly embroidered with the golden-yellow capital text reading "SVEND GØNGE", honoring the regional division named after the legendary 17th-century Danish freedom fighter Svend Poulsen. The lower section displays a stylized yellow silhouette representing a traditional wide-brimmed scouting hat or regional kettle-bowl shield. Superimposed squarely over this yellow graphic is a contrasting blue monogram emblem intertwining the stylized letter characters "S" and "P".
Circa: 1950s–1970s.
Notes:
The name refers to Svend Poulsen Gønge, a Danish folk hero associated with resistance against Swedish forces in the seventeenth century. Many Danish Scout groups adopted historic or local figures as namesakes, linking Scouting ideals to national history.
