Soviet Squaw Valley Olympic Ice Hockey Stamp

Under Review

Description: This is an authentic commemorative postal issue from the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), released as part of a specialized series celebrating the VIII Olympic Winter Games in Squaw Valley. The central vignette focuses on a high-stakes moment in an ice hockey match, highlighting an attacking Soviet player in a dark uniform as he skillfully controls the puck while cutting past a opposing defenseman. Two additional players trail the play through a fine-line haze of kicked-up ice shavings. The upper-left corner positions a bold orange Roman numeral "VIII" directly behind the classic five interlocking Olympic rings. Flowing along the upper right border, clean Cyrillic block typography reads "ЗИМНИЕ ОЛИМПИЙСКИЕ ИГРЫ 1960" (Winter Olympic Games 1960), finished by a tiny lower subtitle noting the location layout. The base houses a stylized white panel displaying the postal designation "ПОЧТА 10 К. СССР" (Postage 10 K. USSR), partially intersected on the lower-left edge by a dark, circular town datestamp cancellation.
