Treasure detail

Soviet Armenian Agrarian Labor

Under Review

Description: This beautifully framed definitive postage stamp from the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic highlights the central theme of agricultural labor during the early Soviet consolidation period. The detailed central vignette depicts a traditional peasant plowman working the soil with a team of oxen, juxtaposed against the backdrop of the majestic, snow-capped Mount Ararat. Reflecting the geopolitical shifts of the era, the top border contains the nation's name inscribed in historic Armenian script, flanked by two circular framing seals displaying the classic communist hammer and sickle emblem. The base of the design prominently positions the massive face value denomination of 25,000 Roubles on the left side, balanced on the right side by the Armenian word for the rouble currency (ՌՈՒԲԼԻ).

Circa: 1921-1922

Condition: Unused - Hinged

Notes:

The massive 25,000 Rouble face value explicitly reflects the hyperinflation that gripped the Transcaucasian republics immediately following the collapse of the Russian Empire and the chaotic onset of the Russian Civil War.
