The Russian Empire Double-Headed Eagle Definitive

Under Review

Description: This philatelic specimen is an authentic 7-kopeck (СЕМЬ КОП.) denomination definitive postage stamp issued by the imperial postal administration of the Russian Empire. Typographed and recess-printed in a deep, monochromatic dark blue ink on an unwatermarked woven paper stock, the intricate composition centers on the crowned bicephalic, or double-headed, imperial eagle resting above crossed post horns. This central heraldic emblem is enclosed within a crisp oval frame bearing the Cyrillic text "ПОЧТОВАЯ МАРКА" (meaning "Postage Stamp"), which sits directly above the Roman numeral designation "VII". The lowercase label "СЕМЬ КОП." spans the lower frame, flanked by four circular corners repeating the numeric value "7" amid elegant scroll accents, while the face displays a heavy, multi-ring ink cancellation mark along the right-hand margin.

Circa: 1889 – 1902.
