Imperial Russia Bicolor Fifty Kopeck Definitive Stamp

Under Review

Description: This is an authentic postal definitive stamp from the Russian Empire, belonging to the classic emblem series of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The central focus is a white, embossed representation of the Imperial Double-Headed Eagle beneath a floating imperial crown, set inside a vibrant green oval medallion. Encircling this oval is a horseshoe banner featuring arched Cyrillic typography that reads "ПОЧТОВАЯ МАРКА" (Postage Stamp). The broader octagonal-framed border is filled with intricate, symmetrical baroque scrollwork executed in an orange-red to red-brown tone. Set within a dedicated white bracket directly below the central green vignette, the denomination is clearly stated across two lines as "50 / КОП." (50 Kopecks), with the numeric value matching the central green ink.

Circa: 1889- 1908

Condition: MLH

Notes:

Because producing these required two separate printing passes, one for the red-brown frame and one for the green center, collectors frequently hunt for minor alignment shifts where the green oval is noticeably off-center. Forgeries of the rare "inverted center" error exist, so any specimen where the eagle is completely upside down requires expert certification. Additionally, specimens printed after 1902 feature the characteristic wavy lines of translucent protective varnish across the face of the stamp, an anti-reuse measure implemented by the State Printing Works in Saint Petersburg.
