Description: This commemorative postage stamp from the Polish People's Republic (Polska) marks a historic international student gathering. Rendered in a deep forest-green ink over a light cream paper stock, the central circular vignette features an allegorical emblem of knowledge and global unity: a strong hand holding a burning torch with a small star inside the flame, positioned directly over an open book and a gridded globe. A stylized laurel wreath wraps around the central graphic, framing the inscription "III ŚWIATOWY KONGRES STUDENTÓW • WARSZAWA". The face value of 1.35 Złoty is split across the top corners, displaying the number "1³⁵" on the left and the currency symbol "ZŁ" on the right. Positioned just below the wreath are the historic event dates "27.VIII • 3.IX. 1953", while the bold national designation "POCZTA POLSKA" anchors the baseline.

Circa: 1953

Notes:

This stamp was issued to celebrate the 3rd World Student Congress held in Warsaw under the auspices of the International Union of Students (IUS), a massive mid-century event used by the Eastern Bloc to promote cross-border solidarity and socialist cultural exchange.
