Poland President Bolesław Bierut 15-Groszy Green Definitive

Under Review

Description: This vintage Polish definitive postage stamp features a formal forward-facing portrait of Bolesław Bierut, the communist leader and president of Poland. The entire design is printed in a single, monochromatic olive-green ink on an off-white paper stock via steel-plate engraving. The face value "15" is situated inside a small box in the upper-left corner, mirrored by the currency abbreviation "Cr" for groszy in the upper-right corner. The bottom border panel anchors a prominent, capitalized title banner reading "POCZTA POLSKA". Microscopic text under the lower border credits "P.W.P.W." on the left for the state security print works and "S. ŁUKASZEWSKI" on the right for the original designer. This specimen features standard comb perforations and is heavily struck by a dark black town handstamp cancellation cutting across the upper portrait area.

Circa: 1950s

Condition: Used - Hinged

Notes:

This definitive stamp represents a major political instrument of the early Polish People's Republic. Bolesław Bierut was a staunch, Moscow-trained Stalinist functionary who orchestrated the rigid Sovietization, agricultural collectivization, and political repression of post-war Poland, meaning his portraiture replaced traditional national symbols on everyday mail.
