Description: This vintage Polish definitive postage stamp centers around a formal, forward-facing portrait of Bolesław Bierut, the president and prominent communist political leader of post-World War II Poland. The complete composition is executed in a deep carmine-red ink on an off-white paper stock using a fine steel-plate engraving method. The face value "10" is nestled inside a solid rectangular framing layout in the upper-left corner, perfectly mirrored by the Polish currency initials "ZŁ" positioned in the upper-right corner. A bold horizontal banner bearing the capitalized national text "POCZTA POLSKA" spans across the baseline of the stamp design. Microscopic engraver credits are legible just beneath the bottom framework line, displaying "P.W.P.W." on the left for the state security print works and "S. ŁUKASZEWSKI" on the right to attribute the original portrait designer. The specimen is framed by clear, uniform comb perforations and features a dark black partial handstamp cancellation mark that cuts over the left border and the subject's face.
