Description: This vintage Norwegian definitive postage stamp centers around the traditional heraldic lion from the Norwegian coat of arms. The stylized, crowned lion rampant faces left while grasping a long-handled halberd or battle-axe in its front paws. The entire illustration is printed in a vivid, monochromatic orange-red ink using a clean photogravure method on uniform cream-colored paper. The bottom border integrates the country name and denomination, reading "NORGE 25 ØRE POST". The specimen features sharp comb perforations along all four sides and is heavily struck by a dark black, circular town handstamp cancellation sweeping through the left and center of the heraldic design.
