Material: Cloth

Size: 35mm w x 70mm h

Description: This vintage embroidered uniform badge belongs to the Norwegian Scouting movement. The rectangular cloth insignia features a vibrant emerald-green fleur-de-lis, the universal symbol of Scouting, crisply stitched onto a durable cream-white canvas ribbon background. Two five-pointed gold stars are positioned on the outer wings of the symbol, while a gracefully unfurling banner at the base frames the iconic Norwegian Scout motto, "VÆR BEREDT", meaning Be Prepared.

Circa: Mid to Late 20th Century

Notes:

The motto "VÆR BEREDT" is the direct Norwegian translation of Robert Baden-Powell’s original 1907 Scouting instruction, reminding young members to be both mentally and physically ready to do their duty. The design elements on the central fleur-de-lis hold specific symbolic meaning within European groups, where the three main petals represent the three parts of the Scout Promise, and the two gold stars represent truth and knowledge flashing across the outdoor world.
