Description: This beautifully engraved definitive postage stamp from the Principality of Monaco celebrates the centuries-old history of the reigning House of Grimaldi. The central vignette displays the formal coat of arms of Monaco, which features a shield of red and white diamonds (lozengy argent and gules) supported on both sides by two monks brandishing raised swords. This unique heraldic composition references the historic 1297 capture of the Rock of Monaco by Francesco Grimaldi, who successfully bypassed palace guards by disguising himself and his men in Franciscan habits. Below the central shield, a flowing banner scroll bears the sovereign national motto, "DEO JUVANTE" (With God's Help). The top border frames the operational inscription "POSTES" flanked by twin face value markers of 10 Céntimos (10ᶜ), while the lower border states the country name "PRINCIPAUTE DE MONACO" right above the crisp baseline signature of the master designer, Antonin Delzers.
