Holy Year Devotion

Under Review

Description: The stamp features an upright triangular format framed by dense serrated perforations. The central engraving displays a detailed portrait of Saint Vincent de Paul, a highly revered Roman Catholic priest known for his dedication to serving the poor. He is depicted with a kind expression, wearing a traditional dark skullcap and a white collar. Positioned at the apex of the triangle is the Latin inscription "ANNO SANTO," identifying the issue with the Holy Year celebrations. Flanking the saint’s shoulder on the left is a small red Greek cross, while the word "CARITAS" is printed on the right to signify charity. The lower corners are decorated with heraldic insignias, showing the Papal coat of arms on the left and the checkered shield of the Grimaldi family of Monaco on the right. A flowing white ribbon loops across the base, inscribed with the words "POSTES MONACO 10F" to explicitly detail the issuing country and face value.

Circa: 1950-1951

Condition: Unused - HInged

Notes:

This stamp was released as part of a multi-value triangular series issued by Monaco to commemorate the 1950 Holy Year (Anno Santo) declared by Pope Pius XII. This specific 10 Franc value focuses heavily on the theme of international Catholic relief work, which is why it bears the distinctive red cross emblem and the label "CARITAS".
