Description: This monochrome green postage due stamp from the Principality of Monaco captures an important milestone in maritime history. The central vignette illustrates a historic vessel chugging along the coast, identified by text along the bottom-right border as the "LA PALMARIA" XIXᵉ S (19th Century La Palmaria). The ship is designed as a hybrid pioneer vessel, showcasing a central smoking smokestack alongside a functional rear paddle wheel and a prominent triangular forward sail. In the background, the imposing landscape of Monaco-Ville's high rocky cliffs and early fortified battlements dominates the skyline. The country name "MONACO" is inscribed across the top-left margin, while the lower-left identifies the stamp's fiscal function with the text "TIMBRE-TAXE". The updated face value of 002 (signifying 0.02 New Francs or 2 Centimes) is placed in the upper-right corner. The bottom-left and bottom-right edges credit the historical illustration to the artist Gabriel Spitz and the engraving layout to Matelin.
