Terraced Views of Moulay Idriss

Under Review

Description: This postage stamp from the French Protectorate of Morocco features a highly detailed, line-engraved view of a traditional terraced townscape. The design illustrates tightly clustered cubic houses, prominent archways, window grilles, and vertical towers climbing a steep hillside, interspersed with slim cypress trees and native vegetation. A sturdy stone bridge spanning the lower midground grounds the structural layout. Integrated into the bottom border is a central white panel inscribed with "POSTES 10c" (10 centimes). This is flanked by "MAROC" on the left and the country's name in Arabic script on the right. Tiny text beneath the lower frame attributes the design to Camille Paul Josso and the engraving to Pierre Gandon.
