Description: This vertical British colonial postage stamp features a highly detailed, monochrome pictorial layout executed in deep plum-violet ink. The left portion of the central vignette showcases a magnificent giraffe standing in full profile on the brush-filled plains, turning its head slightly toward the edge of a native tree. Positioned in the upper right quadrant is a circular frame enclosing the youthful profile of Queen Elizabeth II, facing left and crowned by the St. Edward’s Crown. The names of the three joint postal territories are seamlessly woven into the outer margins, with "UGANDA" running across the top left, "TANGANYIKA" positioned vertically down the left border, and "KENYA" anchoring the bottom center. The lower left and right corners cleanly display the face value of "50c." Arcing across the right side of the face are heavy black lines from a circular date stamp postmark cancellation.
