Description: The stamp utilizes a vertical rectangular format to feature a detailed, dual-toned engraving of a male lion standing in profile. The muscular cat is depicted facing forward with a thick, dark mane, positioned against a background of stylized acacia trees and open grasslands. The top left corner features the text "KENYA UGANDA" printed in clean, hollow block capital letters. Nestled inside a delicate oval cartouche on the upper right is a formal portrait of a youthful Queen Elizabeth II, crowned with the St. Edward's Crown. The face value denomination "20c" is clearly inscribed in a bold, stylized typeface in the upper-left quadrant, while the bottom border block displays the name of the third territory, "TANGANYIKA."

Circa: 1954-1959

Notes:

This 20 Cent orange-and-black stamp was issued as a part of the joint postal administration for Kenya, Uganda, and Tanganyika (KUT) to celebrate the natural wonders and wildlife of British East Africa. The iconic design was printed by the legendary security printing firm Thomas De La Rue & Co. Ltd. using a refined recess engraving method.
