Maritime Trade on East African Waters

Under Review

Description: This classic British colonial postage stamp features an intricate horizontal design printed in a striking combination of deep black and vivid purple-red ink. The central landscape vignette captures a detailed illustration of a traditional dhow boat under full sail, carrying passengers across the water, with the explicit explanatory caption "A DHOW ON LAKE VICTORIA" directly below it. Positioned in the upper right quadrant is a circular portrait framing the likeness of King George VI facing three-quarters left. The country name "UGANDA" is positioned in a rectangular banner at the top center, balanced symmetrically by the joint territory text "KENYA TANGANYIKA" within a scrolled banner spanning the bottom baseline. The upper left corner securely anchors the stamp's face value of "50c" inside a stylized circle, while detailed indigenous reeds flank both lower sides of the scenic core.
