Treasure detail

Campania's Maritime Net Fishermen

Under Review

Description: This specimen is a 20-lire definitive postage stamp issued by the Republic of Italy (Poste Italiane). The vertically formatted composition portrays a local fisherman wearing a traditional cap, captured from a dynamic angle as he strains against a heavy winch rope or capstan on the shore. In the background, across the open waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea, the sunlit mountain silhouettes and coastal architectures of the Campania region line the horizon. The bold country text "POSTE ITALIANE" spans the upper border margin. Nestled near the baseline inside a flowing banner is the localized regional title "LA SCIABICA (CAMPANIA)", which references a traditional Mediterranean haul seine net fishing practice. The denomination value "20" and the currency tablet "LIRE" frame both lower corners perfectly. A partial circular ink cancel loops through the top-right field.
