Description: This vertically oriented definitive stamp from the Republic of Iraq features a face value of 20 fils, indicated by both the Western numerals "20 FILS" and the Arabic equivalent "٢٠ فلساً" flanking the English inscription "REPUBLIC OF IRAQ." The central illustration depicts the iconic Monument of the Unknown Soldier archway that originally stood in Baghdad's Firdos Square, under the gaze of Prime Minister Abd al-Karim Qasim in his military uniform. The intricate Arabic script at the top reads "الجمهورية العراقية" (The Iraqi Republic), while the text bordering the portrait notes "ذكرى تأسيس الجيش" (Anniversary of the Founding of the Army) alongside the specific month and year "كانون الثاني ١٩٦١" (January 1961). Framed within a soft green and yellow border filled with repeating geometric vine-like decorations, the bottom margin bears the crisp manufacturing credit "COURVOISIER S.A.," showcasing its high-quality Swiss photogravure production.
