Description: This 3-annas commemorative postage stamp was issued by British India to mark the grand opening of the new imperial capital. The design features a bold red oval vignette showcasing King George V in his ornate coronation robes and the Imperial Crown of India, beneath a banner reading "INDIA POSTAGE". The outer frame is printed in an ochre-orange shade and frames intricate ornamental pillars on the sides, flanked by the faint background shapes of processed elephants bearing royal howdahs. The numeric value "3 As" sits clearly at the bottom center of the inner frame, surrounded by detailed traditional Indian scrollwork.
