Description: This photogravure-printed, deep dull green definitive stamp from India centers on a stylized geographical map silhouette of the nation. The outline of the subcontinental mainland rests within a large solid circular backdrop, juxtaposed against an ornate vertical margin on the left filled with traditional flowing lotus flower vines. The country name "INDIA" climbs vertically along the right-hand margin, while the lower baseline reads "POSTAGE" adjacent to the "10 N.P." face value printed in western digits and its abbreviated Devanagari script counterpart. A heavy, dark post office cancellation handstamp cuts diagonally across the right edge, slightly obscuring the national name to verify its commercial handling through the domestic mail system.
